In Vivo Dosimetry

In Vivo Dosimetry is used to control the total accumulated dose in case where treatment planning is less accurate, e.g. in total body irradiation (TBI), in build-up region and in risk organs in the head and neck region. In several European countries In Vivo Dosimetry has become mandatory, based on the directive “Medical Exposure Directive 97/43/Euratom”, which recommends that In Vivo Dosimetry is performed.

The DPD-3 In Vivo patient dosemeter for verification of the delivered dose is a stand alone 3-channel electrometer system. Two of the channels are used for photon and electron energies, the third for risk organ monitoring. The device can handle a variety of treatment situations such as entrance and exit dose, risk organ monitoring and intracavitary dosimetry in brachytherapy.
